I just bought a great oil painting at a flea market, but it has a lot of nicotine on it from its previous owner. I found a website that gives a few hints on how to clean an oil painting, I haven't tried it yet, but thought I would pass it along; http://www.hfmgv.org/histories/cis/paint.html#1d Hope that helps someone.
: : I have an oil painting, circa 1970, that has been stored in the basement, hung on a dozen walls, moved from place to place, and, I'm sure, it is in need of simple cleaning.
: : It's an oil on fiber-board. Layered to give it debth. Can I use a simple soap solution to lightly clean the surface? Alcohol? Help and thank you!
: : James.
