I use a mixture of 1 part stand oil and 5 parts turpentine as a medium when I'm working with conventional oils. It's a great mixture. I've let my brushes sit overnight in my brush cleaner(made up of a coffee can containing a smaller can with holes punched in it filled with odorless spirits) with no problems. I don't see any harm in that. Can't answer about flesh tones cause I paint from slides and photos and I inevitalbly end up creating my own color spots.
