I was merely addressing was the question of how Rembrandt painted his impastos.
It is my opinion that this question cannot by answered completely without taking
into consideration how Rembrandt painted his impastos. Of course, chemical analyses
do not always lead one to the correct conclusions. Rembrandt may have been in
the habit of accidently spilling eggs into his white paint while making omelettes.
In such cases the resulting emulsions would be nothing more than unfortunate
accidents.
I always thought that Rembrandt was a good painter. Now that I know he was blind
I am very much more impressed. The man is indeed full of mysteries.
All this is not to say that your method of making impastos that look like Rembrandt's isn't better. If you wouldn't mind posting how you do it without adding stuff to paint, I would be interested to know. Thanks in advance.
: this is hilarious to read the posts. it's like the blind leading the blind.don't
add stuff to your paints. it is unnecessary. EGG? roll on the floor laughing.
