: I'm trying to broaden my spectrum of knowledge about the different brands and pigments used in paints for students. What would you suggest for the best mix of primary colors...? otherwise??? Thank you, Lynmarie
I have used the pallette recommended by Arthur Stern in his "How to See Color"
and found that from it one can easily mix the primary colors and obtain any
color one desires. His palette consists of alizarin crimson, cadmium red light,
cadmium orange, cadmium yellow pale, phthalo green, phthalo blue, ultramarine
blue, and titanium white (to this I add a black, although he does not recommend
it, preferring to have more colored darks). From these one can mix the full
primaries; for instance, one can make a primary blue by mixing the phthalo blue
and ultramarine blue half and half. He says to not substitute the imitation
"hue" colors for the real cadmiums.
