Citrus solvents are excellent for removing adhesive labels and floor wax.
They are absolutely not to be used with oil paints (unless you are meaking recimmendations
to your worst enemy). Turpentine is the sovereign diluent for oil paint (Oil
of Spike has some advantages, but is more expensive). The fumes of turpentine
are absolutely harmless in normal conditions, however, it will migrate through
one's skin. A drop or two is not dangerous, but repeatedly washing one's hands
in turpentine could lead to problems with the liver. As long as your students
can be prevented from drinking or bathing in turpentine, they will appreciate
the unique way it works with oil paints.
