: Hello

: I am going to give oil painting a try. I am taking a course offered "Joy of Painting using the Bob Ross technique". I want to play a little with my paints before the course and found that the store I purchased most of my supplies from does not carry this so called liquid white. It goes on the canvas first for wet on wet painting. Does anyone out there know how to make this or do I have to purchase it? Thanks for your help.

Rob is right, you need the liquid white if you are going to try the technique properly. If the store you mentioned does not carry it, I'm sure there are others that do. Check around.
I am sometimes suprised by peoples attitudes about the Bob Ross products. Although most of the artists in here are far above the Bob Ross techniques, they forget that for a novice, it's not a bad place to start. Sometimes painting is just for fun and recreation. Very few people start out creating masterpieces, but you'll probably be pleased at the results in the beginning. It gives you a place to start learning....and if you find you have a real interest/talent, you can go from there. Although I started with Bob Ross, I eventually found that I liked doing Still Life, and Portraits best. I "evolved" into better paint, and different techniques after doing a lot of reading and trial and error.
Just remember...in the beginning...Bob Ross created Liquid White! Good Luck and have FUN!
