: I'm confused. We're you the one that frowned upon tools of the 20th century (PVA) and indorsed the use of more arcane stuff (rabbit skin glue)? Sounds like a contradiction, or am I missing something? Thanks.

Rabbitskin glue is hardly arcane. It's in common use in the art industry, whereas PVA glue is used in carpentry and cabinetmaking.

Please read the passage again. It has little to do with arcana and everything to do with the very narrow view held by artists who think that the only Old Masters lived in a very narrow period of time and that nothing can be learned from studying older masters or (heaven forbid) modern masters. It has little to do with a recommendation of materials.
