With all respect to the posters in this thread, Maroger IS a kind of megilp. In most of the formulas for megilp
in 19th century texts that I have seen megilp is a jelly which is created when oil which has been saturated with lead is combined
with spirit mastic varnish. In these formulas the lead could be incorporated by cooking the oil with the lead or the lead could be
sprinkled into the oil in the form of sugar of lead (lead acetate) either way the gel reaction will take place. Presumably without
the lead no gelling will take place, BUT megilp by all descriptions is a jelly and therefor must have lead in it.

My opinion is that meglip is maroger in one of its variations. Everyone agrees that meglip is bad---fugitive.

:
: Megilp is made without a leaded oil. It is also called mahlbutter. Because the oil has not been boiled it will darken. Only stand oil does not darken.

: Only pigments are fugitive, not oils or mediums. You have not tried Cennini Maroger medium and wouldn't know it if it fell on you because the one thing it does have is exceptional body. It will stand in peaks.

: Again, your internal problems are causing that stuff to back up and, aside from causing a sh*tty attitude toward all people, is affecting your memory and deluding you into thinking that you have tried things you haven't. I expect, as soon as the internal presures buiild up we'll be treated to your firsthand reports of what it was like to walk on the moon.

: Stumpy, you've read too many conflictying reports and all you can do is parrot them because you've never tried any of this stuff yourself.
