hehe. actually never.
it's molecules just go slower and slower until it eventually polymerizes into
a plastic,
this takes years and years.
pretty ironic huh, plastic old masters. hehe.
but a few weeks i think for a thicker layer to the touch.
stand oil is more trouble than it's worth, rubens may have used it, but probably
just regular linseed,
if they waited around to bake the oil in the sun it would have taken forever
just to get a little oil,
even if they did use lead to speed it up. not too practical for the huge paintings.
id just use linseed oil. cold pressed. maybe with a little metal drier in it,
a tiny bit.
the sticky seductive quality of stand oil has sucked in many a painter hehe.
i did for a while.
