Are you suggesting that oil placed over a dried film of damar will go into solution with it?
Your understanding of chemical interactions is amusing. But just as those pieces of broccoli you had for dinner were churned into different chemical compounds that then form very un-broccoli-like substances like mucles and tears, so to does mastic resin change to a different substance in the presence of lead in solution. What you suggest is tantamount to believing that little broccoli florets are coursing through your veins rather than chemical compounds created by chemical interactions.
The reality is that the mastic in dried Maroger's medium cannot be dissolved
out with turpentine whereas the mastic in unleaded oil (megilp) can be dissolved
with turpentine.
