Sorry, Rob, hope you don't find me a nuisanse, but what if you don't want
cracks?
Glue used to size paper is diluted compared to glue used in gessoes; I sometimesgesso
strength glue to glue paper to wood and paint on that. I don't want cracks and
so far haven't had any on those pieces. I assume that stronger glue would give
the crackled surface that David is looking for?
: The tried and rrue method is to clean the surface of all wax and oil and apply
a dilute coat of rabbitskin glue. It crackles in a subtle manner that is identical
to a fine old finish, rather than something that looks abused.
