Sorry, of course.
First use lead based paints. They're durable.
Second, before applying paint, prime the body with lead white ground. After this has dried (two weeks) scrap with a razor blade.
Third, (this is where the fun starts) lay the paint on with palette knives and trowels. The sculptural surface will thrill connoisseurs of this field.
