I like to put a ground color over the white canvas. I use a mix of acrylic paints and gesso to get a light ground color to paint over. I go for a light red most of the time but sometimes a light grey of green is good. Depends on what your painting I geuss. I do this to kill the white canvas and you won't have white spots showing over the canvas
