: What is the best method for gluing a canvas [a painting in progress] onto
a wooden board or masonite?
: Would it be better to wait until the painting is finished? Has anyone ever
tried this?
Robert Gamblin recommends acid free PVA adhesive (not the acidic white glue
sold at hardware stores!)
This is rather expensive and I have found that plain old acrylic gesso, medium.
or housepaint makes a fine
adhesive for adhering canvas to panel. Gamblin says that one should use a non-reversible
adhesive and
avoid water soluable adhesives like glue, paste, or cellulose.
