Re: anatomy of horses:
The name of the photographer who did those motion studies was Eadweard Muybridge (or Edweard Muybridge--it's a weird spelling). The story goes that he was commissioned by Leland Stanford (of university fame) to make the pictures because Stanford had made a bet on whether horses' hooves were ever all off the ground during a gallop. I'm not sure what the answer was.************************************************************************************************************** I just scored a good buy. these horse drawings were getting to me. I needed clearer info. The book i just got for eleven bucks i've seen millions(hundreds) of times before, but never had any interest or need: AN ATLAS OF ANIMAL ANATOMY FOR ARTISTS W. Ellenberger H. Dittrich H. Baum Edited by Lewis S. Brown DOVER For being 138 pages long and not having "horse" in the title they've given about 36 pages to horse anatomy and it is very clearly displayed. Broken down into SKELETAL, MUSCULAR and SKIN DETAIL layers with illustrations that are CLEARLY modeled to show exactly what is going on. It will help carry me to the end of my project with confidence. aspects of the horse aren't exaggerated or oversimplified nor are they filled with too many of those "Doresque" engraving style shading/modeling lines that make everything look dark and complicated. very helpful. bri
