: I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO CLEAN YEARS OF DIRT, DUST, & ACCUMULATED CIGARETTE SMOKE FROM AN ANTIQUE OIL PAINTING. COULD ANYONE OFFER ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT I CAN DO MYSELF?

The safest way is the mix ammonia into copaiba balsam, drop by drop until it's about 1/3 amonnia. Apply it with cotton balls, allowing it to soak and soften a small section before blotting it up and wiping it gently.
