My advice is "stick with panels"
Sorry, I know that is not what you are looking for but I am prejudice against canvas or linen. I just really love panels ssssoooooo much!!!!!
But anyways, I heard that it is lead white right? Isn't that what was traditionally used? It must have some sort of hide glue to protect the cloth though.
