Seeking traditional gesso recipe
I'm looking for a good recipe for a traditional gesso to use on a flexible support (linen). I use the Gamblin glue/gypsum/marble dust/Titanium white commercial mixture on panels, but that is recommended only for rigid supports. I confess to being in France at the moment, and away from my library of art references, so I would appreciate some good recommendations.

By the way, I have used several acrylic gessos, but I have been so pleased with the texture and feel of the tradional mix that I am very interested in seeing if I can find the equivalent for linen. I will use lead white if I must, but would prefer a recipe with a nontoxic alternative.
