: Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the bums who think it's going to be EEEEAAAAAAZZZY. (Now I'm in a bad mood!)

Yesterday, we were trying out an applicant for an assistant's position. She started at noon and "worked" until 5PM. Oooh, she was so takn with all the art and exotic equipment, but we had work to do, so my other assistant and I introduced her to the 75% of studio life that is neither glamorous nor exciting. Both my assistant and I are high energy people who really hustle. By 3PM she was sitting down to do her tasks while we were on our feet. She asked how we could stay on our feet that long and we both smile. She was then informed that I had been on my feet since 4:30 AM, when I begin work and would likely be on then until 7PM.
She collected her pay for one day and declined to return, her illusions (learned at university) about the glamorous world of art had been shattered. She learned that most of the workings in a professional studio are incredibly dull, yet very demanding (oh yes, she was typical in being both slow and imprecise).
We just kept working. This has been the fifth applicant we have tried. I expect we'll have to go through another dozen before we find someone with some heart.
