Mysterious Old Oil Painting
I have had this painting for years and I bought it out of an attic in Vermont. It is of a nude, and it seems to be oil, but the paint was applied so thin that there are no brush strokes visible. The colors change dramatically when it is taken out in direct sunlight and it really comes alive. I can only find a stylized number 8 or figure 8 as a signature. Also there is a portrait within the background of the nude of a bearded man looking into a lighted area (perhaps this is the artist himself looking onto a blank canvas.
If anyone would like to give me the technique or tell me what this is I would appreciate it. It is a master work of art!
