I've had similar problems in the past (with titanium white drying very slowly). Seems like 5 months would be more than enough time, though. I've been to a couple of workshops where the instructors recommend using an Alkyd white. I paint Alla Prima, so I don't think that would be a problem, but I would like to hear what people have to say about using an Alkyd white with oils, and whether or not this would cause any structural problems. As for Liquin, I have used it in the past. Sometimes if the under-layer is not completely dry, Liquin will take it off. I am now using oils straight from the tube, but again, I'm not doing layered paintings. I will also be interested in the comments about this-you asked a good question!
