Thanks Rob,
The painting is out of my hands for six months, so there's no temptation for me to experiment. I definitely did put it on too heavily.
I have no experience with varnish and I didn't know you could remove retouch varnish without damaging the paint. The retouch was applied about three weeks after any paint was applied. I didn't use any medium in the painting. When it's time, how can I get the retouch off safely?
I truly appreciate your knowledge and help.
