Re: How can I make oil painting shiny?

Carol,1 part damar varnish, 1 part linseed oil and 1 part turps will make a medium that gives shine to oils. Mix a small amount of this with your paints. Take heed though, there are many who say using damar in the medium is dangerous. It may come off years later when cleaning a painting.
