: Alfredo, I have asked this question to all my students, " what is art" The
answers I have received were interisting, but fell short. In all cases it was
the inability to see the forest because of the trees. Perhaps you would like
to take a crack at it. My involvement in your search for a teacher does not
depend on how well you can express yourself, which is self evedent in your querry.
Mental gymnastics I am not interisted in.

What is Art?
Perhaps I can more precisely tell you what it is 'not'.
"What is art?" you ask me.
I reply simply and without pretention,
"I don't know."

Art is what is achieved by capturing and fixing a glimpse of the 'marvellous'.

Art does not exist.

Art is a participation in Divinity.

"Duende", short for duen de la casa ("lord of the house"), originally meant
a divine presence which from time to time made itself felt in a Gypsy cave or
hut during a flamenco session. But Duende is also applied to a spirit of ecstatic
love caught and preserved in a painting, poem, sculpture, or musical passage.
Nobody can fake duende or evoke it at will.
This is strength! This is Art!
