Alla Prima
You can also paint wet in wet; alla-prima in other words. That's mostly what I do. Then you don't got to monkey with that fat over lean business(not that I ever did anyway, and my early paintings still look fine).Can't beat it for loose, sketchy interpretations like the impressionists.
