The broadest means of expression can be reached with oil paint only. It is
like saying that in
order for someone to play Mozart, his piano keys have to be made out of sabre
toothed tiger
bone. The keys are made of basic standard material, just as the paint is just
oil paint. The means of expression is
how it is applied, dried, surface, color, tone, mood, composition, etc.
Permanency and simplicity is the reason for just oil paint without maroger medium
or other garbage additives
like egg. Egg and additives have done nothing that I or the "masters" could
not achieve with paint only, I have tried both.
Simplicity of medium is necessary due to the complex nature of this technique,
if
I had to worry what my piano keys were made of all this time, it would distract
me
from the song. Same goes for the "masters" most of the time. The reason I would
have learned 10 times faster if not for all of the
misleading books, teachers and info out there, is that I spent years playing
around with mediums,
mixtures, and recipes, only to come back to the basic oil paint as capable of
expressing
all that the mixtures did, and better. If I told you everything in detail, I
know someone would
sell it once they see the paintings. So screw it. I could care less what people
want to use,
I am saying what I use, and what the "masters" used.. I also hate to see people
waste money like I used to on tons of
different recipes and mediums. It is a waste of time, money, and is unnecessary.
But then again, I'm not even sure why I am tring to help people here, as I was
just insulted anyway.
Anyway, 2 things, 1- We can do just as good as "the masters" and MUCH better,
so forget about them!!
once you have learned from them. 2- cooking is fun, and so are recipes. That
is why
people like making cake icing with oil paint. I could care less what people
do, ya make sure you mix in some egg, then go and buy some maroger medium and
don't forget to add beeswax and water droplets all from Studioproducts.com.
Whatever floats yer boat, I just realized I am engaging
in a futile debate on the internet. Ouch. Waste of time.
