Attaching objects to an oil painting - best practice?
I am wanting to attach several fairly heavy (1lb or less) objects to a large scale regular canvas oil painting. Two quick questions: 1) should i do this before or after I varnish? 2) what fixative should I used based on the asnwer to 1? (If placed on a dried Damar varnish, what fixative, etc?)

Hope you can help - I want to get a tight bond that doesn't dissolve the varnish and/or oil painting beneath.
