Re: secrets of young mindDerek,It would be difficult to find and quote exactly what is following, but i have read cennini forum regularly since many months and can assure you that your accusations are sadly pointless.-Many MANY times, Rob said that there is no medium that will make you paint like the old masters. It is all a matter of practice, dedication and skill. A good mediums will only help flow and handling. It won't paint for you.-Rob have said that it is possible to make a decent Rubens copy with student paint, turp and linseed oil only. That doesn't mean that it is the best way to go. If you are a pro, you will use the best tools available and get better results. If you are an inexperienced amateur, you can't really appreciate the difference due to the lack of understanding and practice. An inexperienced driver won't be better with a Ferrari. Easy to understand... -Rob told a new painter to use turp and paint only and think about exotic mediums later... -Rob said that Rembrandt paintings were "all paint" with very little medium. He consistently recommends to use small amounts of medium. Derek, I know you can't handle different opinions without loosing control of yourself, so excuse me if I hurt you. I will stay very polite. I have to say that you are fighting opinions that you all constructed in your own mind, sincerly. Don't forget that there are many experienced painters out there. I have been painting for 21 years (so it is almost as much as your own lifetime) and i have still a lot to learn. Many painters have 30, 40 or even more than 50 years of experience. Do you sincerly think these persons needs you to make an opinion on mediums? Do you sincerly think these guys needs advices like using cheap paints and cold press linseed oil only? Everyone have already tried many types of oil and paints. I am afraid that they don't really need to be protected against Rob Howard. They know what is the difference between student grade and artist grade paints, they know what is a painting medium, so they can buy a cennini bottle and make their own decision. Nobody will loose their house because they tried a bottle of medium, so your warnings are at least useless. Keep your energy for painting and remember to always identify the media you are using when you show an artwork. P.S..I sign my real name and email adress, so you can be sure this post is not by Rob Howard. I live in a different country and have no financial interest in Studioproducts. Please, dont post porno junk under my name, like you did a few weeks ago. By doing such things, you just loose all credibility. Remember that this post doesn't intent to hurt you. I only want to help you realize that you fight an imaginary devil.
