Has anyone any knowledge of working with oil on paper? Any firsthand experience?

L.,

I cannot vouch for longevity as i have not painted with oils on paper beyond the scope of fifteen years, but i have paintings that are 11 or 12 years old on illustration board, regular watercolor paper,(such as Arches 90lb.), and non-sized tempered hardboard that are still intact. I especially suggest GATORBOARD which is a sort of petrified FOAM-CORE. The stuff is SUPER hard, VERY light and smooth. It is NOT flexible, but offers a really nice fine, fine tooth. I also recommend MULTIMEDIA BOARD, available from the JERRY'S ARTARAMA catalog. It is somewhat like a white, modern, hardcore version of parchment, and as it is thin as thick watercolor paper, it will bend in a (maybe)12" diameter circle, but when bent to extremes it will snap crisply.

for what it's worth..............bri
