Portrait painting requires greatest responsibility compared to other painting genres. I'd say it's the most difficult genre.Portraits are the litmus-paper of the artist's painting technique.

In portrait painting everything depends on the technique level of the artist, and his/her love to people. Personally I think that the most important thing in the portrait is the likeness with and the beauty of the model. "Internal likeness," "uncovered truth" are the cliches used by some artists to disguise their inability to depict the real beauty of the model. I mean beauty in the direct meaning of the word.
