advice for newbie

I will soon be buying a few hundred pictures from a photographer (female model pictures) for my web site. Everything will be done via the web. Should I get this on paper as a contract/agreement so that I can be assured I will be able to use the pictures as long as I want? Any ideas or info is greatly appreciated ;-)Any web sites where i can read about laws involving purchase of photographic material?
