: Right, I currently use acrylics as a toned ground for a wet in wet alla prima technique. I really like the results but I hear acrylics might react to oils in a degenerative way? My reasoning is that it (acrylic) is superior to rabbit skin glue size as it is less reactive to environmental changes. Also the dried film is firm yet flexible and remains so for decades so far without significant change. The question is has anyone heard of evidence suggesting acrylics are as bad as Ive heard? I have considerd real gessoe, oil grounds and casien and feel they are inferior. I may be wrong...anyone got the beef on this one?
