Hi Inje,
My oil paintings are western & wildlife along with domestic animals. I love animals. I am a realistic painter and I mainly get my subject matter and compositions from my photographs. I go to zoos, fairs etc and take hundreds of them and go from there.
I've modeled for portrait artists such as Semens but other than doing a few myself, I stay away from portraits. The animals I really get into. I teach dog obedience and used to break and train horses on the ranch. Animals I know...muscle, bone placement etc so I guess it's just easier for me.

: hi everyone,
: rather than HOW you paint, i'm just wondering WHAT you paint. where do you get your composition ideas from. do you use live models/photos/drawings? do you paint figurative (ie, people). i assume most of us here would? are you imaginative/abstracted or more realistic?
This is my first time tonight on this site. I like reading all the ideas and questions/answers.
Best to you, Kittie

: just curious....
