Last week I posted a question about a potrait by an unknown artist.
We have since learned that it is a potrait called "Master Simpson" by
Arthur W. Devis (1711-1788). The only problem now is that we can find
almost nothing about this artist. He was born in England, came from a
large family, several who painted but none were too famous. He currently
has several paintings supposedly on exhibit in Washington D.C. and San
Fransisco. Can you give us more details on this artist? We found Arthur
Devis and Arthur W. Devis. THe first may be his father or the same man.
Arthur W. painted "Master Simpson". Any information on this artist would
be extremely helpful. THank You. Rhonda TWilligear |
