: You might go to the ARC website (artrenewal.com). The site is run by the curator of the Met in NY. They may be able to tell you something. It seems I've seen that painting before, I'll look through my books.

We have come into possession of an old print in frame that we do not know the artist. There is no signature but it could possibly be covered by the frame. We hate to take it out of the frame because it appears to be extremely old and could take away from the value. The person we received it from was told that it was supposed to be the same artist that painted BLUE BOY (GAINSBOROUGH)however, we have searched the net over Gainsborough portaits and have not seen a copy of this particular pic. eventhough it looks much like his work.To describe this picture, a little blonde boy holding a white puppy, pinkish jacket, white ruffle collar, white/tan pants, and a black top hat laying on the ground beside him. Background appears to be in a yard setting. Standing on grass, Faded trees in distance. CHild is the main focus of painting. I know this must be a very recognizable painting to educated art critics. I know it would be hard to tell me exactly who the artist is without actually being able to see the picture but what makes this pic so unusual is the puppy and Black Top Hat. Have any possible ideas as to who the artist could be? Any help would be much appreciated.
