I didn't want to have a frame-like drawing or painting, so, I applied the acrylic gesso right onto the piece of canvas. I didn't stretch it or anything. Is that bad? I have noticed that it wrinkled the parts of the canvas without the primer, I guess 'cause it tightened. If it is ok to do what I'm doing, how do I avoid the wrinkled sides of canvas?
