go to home depot and by a gallon of the best exterior house primer theyve...this stuff is cheaper than gesso, and is made to prime concrete, brick (YES, canvas) etc. Gesso is art store expensive stuff. a lot of the new material of today are better than what was used by the masters. Ever wodered about car paints?
