: Hey guys,
: Can anyone give me some detailed instructions on glazing ie. with a monocromatic underpainting. I'm after a classical portrait/nude look. Thanks.

My prefered method of applying a glaze to a monochrome underpainting is to apply the color by scrubbing it on with a small bristle brush and then rubbing it in with my fingers or the heel of my hand. If the paint is too stiff from the tube then it can be diluted by dipping the brush into mineral spirit or turps with some linseed oil added, The glaze can be partly removed with a cloth or paper towel. I prefer not to use resinous glazing mediums.
