: I havn't painted in over 4 years. After graduating from art school my desire to paint has diminished dramatically.I no im good at what i do, but i just can't get myself to paint continuously. I'm pretty sure some of you have experienced this also, can anyone tell me how they got over it.
:
I changed majors from art to music after my first year of college, and didn't paint or draw AT ALL for eight years. What I finally realized after all that time was that I had been letting other people tell me what was and wasn't worth creating, and that turned my off to art. Once I started doing things +I+ was interested in, art became important to me again. I've been making a living from art for seven years now and couldn't imagine a better life!
Just try to forget about what other people say - especially the ones who demand that artists be philosophers, iconoclasts and social critics. Art is bigger than that, simpler too; more personal and much more elegant. If you sit down at your easel to entertain and delight yourself only, you'll feel the passion again!
