Hi Rob,
Thank you very much. I recently checked out Controlled Painting by Frank Covino and found it very interesting. I haven't used a series of greys in paintings and find that idea exciting. I'm self-taught and began with local color theory and then moved on to full-color seeing, neither one really satisfying. I'm not sure what David Leffel's "style" is, but I enjoyed the dramatic chiaroscuro with color when I endeavored to learn from Cateura's book. I hope the depth, excellence and beauty of classical realism is what I'm looking for. I've been painting about 14 years and I suppose it takes a great deal of time and epxerimentation to find one's style!
