You're right. But the actual colour 'hue' etc., of Prussian blue, according to Artist Pigments from the National Gallery publication, is a fairly good match for azurite, which was used quite extensively during Leonardo's time.
I haven't read what you are refering to, but that may be your answer?
If you're interested, the best match for azurite is apparently manganese, which is by itself a beautiful colour, no matter whether it's Psyche trying to look like Venus or not...shawn:)
