i definitely think the cracking is probably due to the use of an acrylic medium on linen, which is normally recognised as a non-archival process. linen tends to warp and settle on its own and needs the flexiblility of an oil primer. the acrylic is too rigid and also does not adhere to the linen correctly.

acrylic gesso works best on wood or raw canvas.

Doak sells an excellent oil primer, call him at 718-237-1210
