I am trying to figure out how to paint an oil painting that has an even gloss all over. I am glazing heavily using a 1:1:1 mixture of turpentine, refined linseed oil and damar varnish. the first couple layers are great. However, some of the later layers dry completely gloss free. I have tried the medium minus the turpentine in the final layers, but that didn't help at all. I need help. thank-you.
