There is more to just painting a face than knowing what color to use. The color is dependent upon the color of the light source, the general complexion of the face, and many more considerations. The value you start your painting off with is more important. Make sure that the first color you put on is absolutely the right value, or how light or dark it is. Place the first darkest accent on the portrait (example - black), then place the lightest light on the canvas (the lightest area, typically the light source or lightes part of a white blouse or whatever. Get these correct and judge all parts of the painting against these two areas. If you are copying a photo of her face, then take a good look at the value of the overall color of the face, determine the hue as to what family it is in (orange, ren, yellow, yellow-orange, etc), then determine what colors when mixed will approximate the middle value of the face, then determine what colors when mixed with the middle value will give you the shade color and the highlight color.
