I believe (and the historians can correct me as needed) that the artist Henri said "A painting
is never finished, it's just stopped in an interesting place." It's rather like writing a novel, you
can keep going back and re-writing ad infinitum, but you really have to stop someplace.

: Hi, I've only been oil painting about 5 months, but I've always been interested. I'm doing not bad, except I have a bunch of paintings that I refuse to put a signature on because I feel I could always do more to them. Does anybody else feel this way? You're obviously aiming high and want to do your best.Don't forget to do alot of simple studies, paint some simple thing that is right there in front of you like an apple or a coffee cup in greys. The time spent will really pay off and make your masterpieces go quicker. Maybe you're going through what I went through...nobody can criticize your work until you say it's done by signing it. You have an out by saying "but I'm not done yet.."it's always difficult for me to tear myself away from a painting.I forget who but some famous artist said "It takes two people to make a great painting, one person to paint it and one person to take the brush away before it's ruined.." ( not an exact quote I'm sure but my memory isn't that great ... )Good luck, have fun and don't give up THANKS, EFFERINO FOR YOU INPUT, I THINK YOU NAILED WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I NEED TO CALL THEM COMPLETE AND QUITE MAKING EXCUSES. I GUESS I JUST NEEDED TO HEAR IT FROM SOMEBODY. THANKS AGAIN. MARK
