I need just a little help to get me going. I've done several paintings using oil paints and like my results, but would like to use the method described by 1art.com/tips. I would like to take my paintings to a higher level.
I made by drawing and transferred it to the prepared canvas. Step 11 "Imprimatura" is where am. Most of my picture is very light, almost white. The back ground is a huge water falls.
The tutorial says to cover the canvas with a liquid mixture of: Red Ochre, Yellow Ochre, Ivory Black made to be an olive hue.
Questions:
Do I mix up a solution of 2% of dry DAMAR CRYSTALS and 98% of turpentine and then add Red Ochre, Yellow Ochre and Ivory Black to make my "olive hue"?
What does the DAMAR CRYSTALS do? Can I leave it out? Can I use Liquin or linseed oil instead?
