: : Hi, : : Hope someone can help. : : I Usually paint with acrylic but I love to paint with oil. I have two questions. : : 1) I am alergic to the mediums used with oil, except turpentine. What would happen if I use only turpentine as a medium. Would this cause the paint to peel? : : 2) I usually paint very "thin" since I use fine details. Would this cause the paint to peel? I am asking these questions because I have tried oil painting years ago and the paint peeled off the canvas. : I need more specifics. What exactly are you alergic to? Turps is a popular alergen, and if you don't have a problem with it, then I can only assume you're alergic to other ingredients of mediums, which are usually oils of some type. I would think that if you had an alergy to linseed oil for example, that you wouldn't be able to paint at all!
