Water miscible oils and cleanup

I am a beginner. I started going to an oil painting class given by a local artist. I'm the only one in the group using water miscible oils.

The instructor told the class that they should now through the mineral spirits used to clean out the brushes down the drain because of the lead content.

Is this also true for water miscible oils? (I'm using Grumbacher Max). What should I do with the clean up water? It doesn't seem to be separating like the mineral spirits and regular oils.

Thanks for your help!
