: I need to finish a painting but my teacher lives in my country and he has not taught me yet how to paint grass. I need to paint dark parts and light ones. I bought a special brush yesterday, No. 4, I don't remember the name of it, and nothing came out. I need to finish this painting for tomorrow. Thank you for your help.Leontina
hello leontina. my advise is a little late. i'm a beginner like yourself so until you get some better advice try my method if you like.
first paint an under painting of ultramarine or cobalt blue. mainly put in the dark areas.
let that dry then put on a layer of yellow over it. the areas that are blue will show up yellow and the areas that aren't blue will show up as yellow highlights.
let that dry and put a layer of thalo green over the grass you want to look really intensely green. the more yellow under thalo green the greener it is.
let it dry and add a layer of sap green (dark green) in selected dark areas.
this should give several different values to your grass. put some white dots on next and it will look like you have clover in your grass.
