: Just released is Rob Howard’s latest instructional video, with information that comes not a moment to soon as you'll note from the title, "All About Painting Mediums." Keeping in the manner of his books, Howard has jam-packed the video with information of real use to the working artist who knows that one medium cannot be used throughout a painting.
: Howard begins by showing the fundamental qualities of the various drying oils, the uses of resins, wax and balsams as well as the best ways to combine the ingredient to produce specialized mediums that have the four qualities required of a good painting medium. He then moves on to the oil/resin mediums along with boiled oil mediums and a variety of emulsions (all of which you can make in the studio). The mediums are demonstrated on a full range of paintings.
: Produced by HOW 2 Productions, using state-of-the-art digital video equipment to produce this concise video. For art instruction videos centered about color and detail, the difference in quality between digital and analog is miles apart. This video is now available in VHS format at http://1art.com/forums/quickcatalog/catalogframes.html The video also comes with an informative booklet containing numerous recipes for mediums to meet every painter's needs.
